SEN and Learning Support

Learning Support

The SEN department works closely with our partner schools in order to identify pupils who may be in need to extra support when they arrive at Flegg High Ormiston Academy.

We want all pupils to make at least expected progress in their time with us and try to ensure that the curriculum matches the needs of individual pupils. Pupil’s special educational needs (SEN) are assessed and then matched with the most appropriate form of support. In most cases, this may include literacy and numeracy skills through in-class support or withdrawing from certain lessons for periods of intervention.

The SEN department works closely with our Pastoral Support Team which includes Heads of House, Student Services, the School Nurse, as well as with a number of outside agencies including School Health, Education Psychology Service, CAMHS, Options East and Careers.
