Duke of Edinburgh Award

26 of our year 10 students took part in the Duke of Edinburgh expedition this weekend. On Saturday they began bright and early to make their way from North Walsham to Buxton using a route they had planned in their teams. Carrying all their equipment, they had to navigate their way through the
countryside and set up camp as soon as they arrived. The next challenge was to cook themselves pasta using Trangias (portable cooking stove), before finishing the day with games and team challenges.

On Sunday morning they had to cook themselves breakfast before walking approximately 15 kilometres. This may have been even longer for some groups depending on how lost they got. Students also encountered an additional challenge of some curious cows that were blocking the path. A new route was formed to avoid them, but this delayed them by about 20 minutes. They continued their expedition and arrived back to the site at around 4pm. They were completely exhausted but had lots of memorable moments from the weekend. Loads of stories and fun memories were shared and another successful weekend was complete. Well done to all who took part!
