F1 in Schools

On Thursday, (despite the school closure), we took our two competing F1 in Schools teams (Venti Racing and Caliber) to Sprowston Academy for the Regional Finals stage of the nationwide STEM competition.

If you are not familiar with the project, students are required to design and produce from scratch, a scaled version of a formula one car which can be raced. They also have to complete a research mission, deliver a 5 minute verbal presentation to industry experts and complete a project portfolio. All of these elements are then judged, with the best overall placing teams progressing through to the Nationals round.

Despite competing virtually last year, this was our first time competing at a physical event and both teams were able to gain some valuable insight into how they can further improve both their physical car and also their project work alongside it. Whilst we did not have any success on the track, placing 5th and 6th in our category, Caliber did place in the top 3 for their portfolio and Venti Racing won an award for their work on sponsorship and marketing!

If you wish to see the work produced by the teams, this is currently on display in the Academy reception. Well done, Grace, Eden, Jacob, Sajana, Arden, Liam, Ciarah, Maya, Liam, Jacob and Max for your efforts this season! We are very proud of you.
